Find a Workers Compensation Law Lawyer
Workers Compensation laws are those statutes which cover the rights and responsibilities of business owners when it comes to the safety of their employees and the rights of employees to be provided with a safe working environment and to be compensated for injuries should they be hurt in the workplace.
Each state has its own set of Workers Compensation laws but most of them guarantee the right of employees to be compensated for injuries in the workplace with the employee having strict liability for their safety. (Employers can be exempted from these laws for various reasons including being a small business with only a couple of employees; domestic workers, farm hands, and independent contractors may also not be covered under these laws depending on the jurisdiction and the laws of the state where the work is being done.)
Workers Compensation is almost always paid for by the employers; generally speaking, employees cannot be charged with the cost of it.
