As a state known for its citizens' perseverance and determination – personified by the young man born of humble roots who taught the world the name Lincoln – it comes as no surprise that Kentucky's attorneys imbue these characteristics in their law practices. In-state law schools that train many of Kentucky's lawyers are not exempt from this phenomenon. The Louis D. Brandeis School of Law employs faculty that, beyond their considerable in-state influence, are published by the Oxford (England) Journal of Legal Studies, the Columbia Journal of Transnational Law, the Northwestern Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review and the Georgetown Journal of Legal Ethics, amongst others. The Salmon P. Chase College of Law, at Northern Kentucky University was founded as a nighttime law school in 1893, an offshoot of the Cincinnati and Hamilton County YMCA, with the first law degrees bestowed in 1900. It now thrives as a fully accredited and influential legal facility. Taking a little and making a lot is not an uncommon theme in Kentucky, and luckily for clients in need of representation, lawyers can make their careers off it.
