As the first of the thirteen original states to ratify the Constitution, and thus technically “The First State,” Delaware has an upper hand as far as tradition and heritage go. It takes little time or experience in the courtroom to see that this pride and discipline plainly extends to Delaware's legal system. Respect for justice is instituted in lawyers early at Widener University, which sports a law campus in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania as well as a law school on the Wilmington Campus. The latter is home to about eleven hundred law students, and the prestigious Delaware Journal of Corporate Law, published since 1975, the only national law review that publishes unreported corporate opinions from the Delaware Court of Chancery. Whether your lawyer was trained instate or out, the competitive climate of the state guarantees a good selection.
